New Toy

Postby expat » Thu May 22, 2008 1:49 pm

Dropped by some friends today and this was being played with. Made some approving noises to which my wife was not very impressed. Now, I know that this friend is moving in a big way into RC helicopters. I happen to be moving out due to mainly time. I also happen to have in my cellar a Futaba Supersport that has only flown five or six times. This has only been driven twice. Made an off the cuff remark about swapping one for the other. 30 minutes later it was sitting in the boot of my car :D
30cc two stroke engine, 4WD, 55mph (85kph) weighs in at 15kg's and stops on a sixpence with a nice set of disk brakes. My lads Bobby Car is there to give some scale. It is 1:5 in scale, and one of the best things, the land outside the office window could not be better for such a toy.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

These are not cheap Jake, the 4WD 30cc version will set you back ready to go anything between $800 to $1300, though I have seen them down to $600 on ebay. It is only luck that I now have one 8-)

It got a bit messy today, when at, well I was at full throttle, hit the washing line in the garden. It is one of those upright ones with the arms and string between the arms. My wife was not so impressed that it ended up looking line the Leaning Washing Line of Pisa. The impact flattened the tube at the base, smashed a lower wish bone and bent the wishbone pivot pin. The pin is a 4mm hardened steel rod. I got a pain in the wallet at that point, but after ordering new parts was pleasantly surprised that the parts only came to

I fly RC too, but the speed cameras, now that could be an idea. We use induction coils here and the under tray is a large thick piece of aluminum :evil. There are a few 30mph cameras about my local area, This I am going to have to check out. There is one that is up th road, no chance on upsetting locals and I can see in both direction for quite a way..................I may report back later.
