Popham DH fly-in Pt 2

We had a good selection of DH types. In fact much better than I expected. First of all an immaculate example of the original DH.60G Gipsy Moth.


Another beautiful classic. This is the DH.60M "Metal Moth" with a steel tube fuselage in the colours of the famous Brooklands Flying Club.  


The Metal Moth was the predecessor of the legendary DH.82A Tiger Moth.
     

There were more Hornet Moths on the airfield today than I've seen for a long time. Here's just two of them.
     

Finally, the last of the Moths in all but name. The Chipmunk has the look of a true thoroughbred. Must have been at least 10 on the field.
A wonderful sight. Here's two in civil markings for a change.

A look in one of this month's mags and you'll see BA Flying Club at Booker have painted a Piper in "half and half" BOAC/BEA colours!

Brilliant, but I think the Tiger moth is the most handsom sibling of the Moth family. An amazing bi-plane...  :)
