EHAM 05-05-08 Part 3: Waving pilots + takeoffline

Postby pepper_airborne » Mon May 05, 2008 12:24 pm

When the planes taxi towards the most western runway they come close to a gate, this is a favorite place to photograph and watch the planes for a lot of people. Most pilots that are familiar with this airfield will start waving as soon as they come out of the turn.

I don't recognize "Velk", but "Vasco da Gama" rings a bell... he was a Portuguese sea captain who was the first so sail from Europe to India (1498-99).

I'd venture to say physically old, seeing how it's a -200 (probably made in the mid-80's).

I see, i thought that NWA had all of the 747-200's removed from there fleet? Or am i wrong?

It apears that this is one of the last remaining 2 747-200's flying for NWA. It also fly's military charters to kuwait.
