Happiness is a Belt-Fed Weapon...

Postby BigTruck » Mon Apr 07, 2008 1:28 am

Couple pics of our machine gun shoots, featuring two of my favorite pieces of gear in the military, the "Mah-Deuce"  (M2 fifty cal machine gun) and the 240G  (7.62mm machine gun).  I took 1,782 pictures during this past op, so I will be contributing generously over the next few weeks, but I promise not to spam!!

Looks like fun. In a previous life during field deployments, I was always stuffed with carrying about the GPMG (also 7.62). The difference being, the only time I fired it was once a year, 20 rounds to maintain qualification. On deployment, during attack, we just yelled "Banana, banana" to simulate a burst ;D ;D. We only got 10 blanks issued and I was not cleaning the dam thing for that >:( Unfortunately the UK armed forces have always been a bit strapped for cash.

Love the perspective in picture two though.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Haha I know what you are talking about, we usually don't get rounds either, we run around yelling "Bada Bada JAM, Bada Bada JAM"  to simulate a burst, but a few times a year we get to go out to the ranges and shoot some rounds, the US Marine Corps isnt exactly a rich organization either, usually the Navy gets all our money...
