History Buffs or enthusiasts...

So this weekend I was involved in a massive airsoft game in Camp Navajo near Flagstaff AZ called Balkan Hammer. It was run by a Military History Museum which gave them access to some military vehicles. They originally planned to bring out a Hind Helicopter but they were unable to get it shipped in time.  However for the game we were driven around in 5 military vehicles A half-ton transport, 3 standard Humvee's one other with a fabric covered cargo area and a Halftrack. That is what I have for you today.

Because I was on the Serbian Special Forces team we were the ones deployed in the halftrack and wow, was that fun!  On Saturday we just were deployed and occasionally moved by it while it provided support to the rest of our forces but Sunday was absolutely fantastic! The game was made up of the US and British SAS vs. the Serbian team (don't remember exactly what we were made up of) but to start the day off the Serbian SF (me) were deployed to our first objective to secure an area for the rest of the group. After a few minutes we spotted some movement to our south. I confirmed it was the British SAS and we called in our main fighting group. Our SF team then immediately loaded up into the track and headed out to their rear. We rolled up to them and they immediately fled, on our initial pass we were able to wipe out most of their team. However two were able to escape to the east. We turned around to chase and were just able to make them out in the trees to our left, we cut through the brush and started after them. This is where they made a bad move. They both cut across an open field the track could easily move and promptly gunned them down with 5 AEG's and my pistol. Sniper rifles are not much good when moving like we were. The first man we chased decided to turn and try and fight which led to hes unavoidable hit, we then switched our focus the the next man who was able to run a bit faster. Of course with the halftrack and 6 men he had no chance. I later talked to him that day and found out that when we shot him the BB's started hitting his neck and slowly worked their way down to his knees, If we had a video it would have been quite possibly the best moment of the weekend.   Well enough talking, I have one shot of the Halftrack to share with you guys.

This was the same halftrack used in Saving Private Ryan, and Band of Brothers. I was lucky enough to spend many hours riding this and Let me tell you... Its the most fun I've had in airsoft for awhile!

Sounds like loads of fun.  I'd really like to get into airsoft or paintball when I get a job and all that...::)

How do you guys know you hit someone?  Is it all on the honor system?

And YMMB, Airsoft is like paintball, but using small plastic BBs.

It is the honor system, but when your hit you mostly don't want to get hit again :P Airsoft is a bit like paintball but the guns are much more realist, Most are the same size, color, and weight of their real live counter parts ;) And the game is more of a mil-sim than paintball 8-)

Paintball and airsoft, although related are amlost nothing alike. Paintball you mostly find guys running around showing how much of a "man" they are, not in all cases but a lot that I have seen, in airsoft its more about military tactics, stealth, and some other skills you need to develop.  They can be the same but usually airsoft is much more realistic.

It is on the honor system but you usually know when you've been hit because for the most part Airsoft BB's are allowed to travel faster then paintballs and tend to sting. Also you can usually tell when you've hit someone anyway from watching the bb's.
