Wallis, the great man himself

Postby C » Sat Oct 20, 2007 1:39 pm

Enjoyed a day at the home of Wg Cdr Ken Wallis MBE, DEng, CEng, FRAeS, FSETP, PhD , RAF (Ret'd), Reymerston Hall in Norfolk:

A fascinating day out, and here's the first of many shots (just a taster):

Not bad for a 91 year old!

Ah, what a character. Did he give you a flying display?

I first met Ken Wallis at Shoreham back in the 1960's when he was testing his first autogyro. Jolly nice chap he was too. He used to fly in from Boscombe in the Harvard which I believe is still in use. I last saw him at the Beagle reunion at Shoreham a couple of years ago. He doesn't change much.

He was unerring in his praise for the brothers Miles...

Great shots, what luck meeting someone like that. Must have been a interesting day.
