Royal Visit

Postby 61_OTU » Fri Oct 05, 2007 6:34 am

Hi all,

I was asked to get pictures of a visit by Princess Anne to a local disabled riding group on Wednesday. I have loads, but they are of other people's kids, so I don't feel it appropriate to share them publically, however here is one which has no-one in the background.

Princess Anne was great, she was very relaxed and friendly, very knowledgeable, and managed to spend a little time with all of the kids. It was a really special experience for eveyone.

Lighting in the arena was terrible, so I had it on ISO800 most of the time with shutter speeds of 1/30th and below, and got hundreds of blurred images, however persistence and sheer dumb luck resulted in a decent picture of just about everyone

Good to hear. People are always very quick to put down the Royals, often when things are going too well, and they have temperaments like the rest of us! A mate of mine met her last month whilst working, and she made time in her schedule to speak to them informally, which is a very nice touch, having seen how busy they can be on anyone day (often you see 3 or 4 engagements in one day...). :)

I'll never understand the concept royalty, but if they do good deeds, I can't be against it...  ;)

And what's up with pricesses/queens and weird hair!  :o But she still doesn't beat our Queen Fabiola!  8-)

Nothing beats a non-political Head of State (in the case of the UK, Queen Elizabeth II). In my job it helps me considerably to think of myself as a servant of the Queen, with whom my true allegiance lies, rather than a servant of a politician. :)

She came to my school last year.
I think it was something to do with the schools 400th year anniversary.

I'd rather think of my country if I were in your position but in my country.

There's some people in my country I couldn't care less about if push came to shove... ;) ;D
