Yup.... quite a lot of fields and places to land if needed in the local area... Just a big pain in having to disassemble the Glider and transport it home. We have had two civilian gliders land at Syerston a few months back, they were both taking part in a competition in the area and wandered a bit too far and couldn't make it back. Luckily one of them called out a Tow aircraft (G-TUGY  ::) ;D to be precise) to come and give him a lift home, but the other had to disassemble and get a trailer to come and pick him up!  ::)

Syerston, as the crow flies, is about 17 miles from Cranwell...

...and about 18 from Melton Mowbray. :)

F.... ;D...!

P.S....If you are forced to land in a Farmers field and damage his crops, (or terrify his Cows, etc), does he get all upset (12-Bore Shot-Gun?), and charge you for any damage... ::)...?

The winching part looks rather intense... a bit like James May statement when climbing with the Eurofighter... We're at 5.000 ft and my stomach is still on the runway...  ;D
