Building time... Part 1

Postby Mobius » Sun Jun 10, 2007 10:37 am

Well, I'm getting to the point in my instrument training where I have to start thinking about what requirements I need to meet to get my rating, and as of right now, I'm close to half-way to my 50 hours of required cross country time.  That means that I'm going to have to start doing some long cross-country flights on my own to build up time.  So this past Friday, I took a flight from here (Middleton, C29), across southern Wisconsin to Lake Michigan, then a little jog north to a place many of us should know, adding another 2.6 hours to my logbook. ;)

Just after take-off, heading north at 1000 AGL to stay under the Madison class C...

Free of the Class C, and climbing up to 5500 ft MSL...

Cruising at 5500 ft, the land around here seemed to all be pointing to the lake in the upper right of the picture...

The Dodge County Regional Airport...

At last, the west coast of Lake Michigan...

Thanks for looking, Part 2 is HERE. ;)

Looks like fun!  I'm somewhat jealous.  Texas is the only state, aside from Alaska and Hawaii, you can fly a really long cross-country and not leave the state. >:(  The only scenery here is dirt, dirt, and more dirt.  Although, we have had a rather wet spring so everything hasn't died off... yet.  :D

Thanks for the comments guys.  Wisconsin is a pretty good state for cross-country flights, I can leave the southern corn fields in the  morning, and be in the "northwoods" for lunch, and be back for dinner. 8-) ;)

Is that FS9 or FSX?  :o

My special combination of both, with a touch of FS-Real added in. ;)

What part of TX are you from?  I recently flew over to San Angelo and usually once you get west of there you see nothing but dirt.  To my surprise it was very green.  I'm from Waco and Lake Waco is closed until further notice until they let all the water out.  Most if not all of the recreation parks and marinas are under water right now.
