Biggin Hill 07....RAF Airfield Assault!

Postby Mictheslik » Sat Jun 02, 2007 5:29 pm

Lots more from Biggin Hill to come tomorrow, but heres one thread for tonight...sorry th quality isnt brilliant but I wanted to get all the pics in one thread ;)

First off...the chinook drops some troops to secure the airfield fro future RAF use
Image

Tornado F3s are called in to perform Combat Air patrols
Image

The E3 is here to warn the F3s and ground troops of any incoming attacks
Image

F3s continue to patrol the skies over the airfield
Image

However...on the ground the fight isnt going well for the troops
Image

So they call in assistance from two ground attack GR4s
Image

The GR4s check their targets to make sure they arent friendly and strafe
Image
Image

However they miss by 50 ft and more drastic action has to be taken
Image

Meanwhile a C130 J has arrived to bring reenforcements to the ground troops
Image

The F3s are still performing CAPs, when the E3 calls in bandits approaching from the east
Image

The F3s engage and the enemy aircraft are quickly disposed of
Image

Meanwhile the GR4s have confirmed the enemy on the ground as their target and prepare to attack
Image

Direct Hit! (the heat from this blast was incredible...and the firefighters were still putting out the fire 20 mins later :D)
Image
Image

Checking the damage
Image

Coming in for a closer inspection ;)
Image

Mission accomplished!

more pics of other things to come ;)

Superb pics Mic, I'm gutted I couldn't make it.
I'm glad I wasn't watching from the distance when the demo took place, I'm sure I'd have thought a plane had crashed.. all that smoke and all.

Can't wait for some more...

Bring 'em on!

:)

Those are some sweet pics.  I particularly like the ones you took of the explosions.  Very nice.  8-)

I like the last shot. Shows how stubby the GR.4 is compared to the F.3

Yeah...Its interesting how the Gr4 is ugly from the side but nice from the front and the F3 is the other way round.

This was my fisrt sighting of F3s since 2005  :o :o

Nice, and very impressive, but can't help thinking the RAF really ought to be spending its money on more useful applications* other han multi aircraft (very expensive) "role demos" and pyrotechnics... ::)

*and there are many...
