The Typhoon is the replacement, but it won't be getting its air to ground capability sorted for a while yet.

Erm...I forgot about the Tornados. I think they can take up the Jag's jobs easily.

P.S: Unless someone invites you to a desert adventure again, you won't need the A-G capabilities anyways.

The RAF were overstretched with both the Jaguar and Tornado anyway, so getting rid of the Jaguar is only going to make things worse. You can't (shouldn't anyway) just cut down armed forces to the bare minimum because you don't currently need much more. You never know what is around the corner, just look at what we did after WW1, cut down the RAF so much that they weren't strong enough at the start of WW2.

I'm afraid that that's our overnments outlook these days, any way that they can save money, they will do it, even if it includes reducing our defence forces so much that we can't even defend our own country.

Awesome quality! Well done... I bet there is a nice replacement waiting...

To be fair, the Jag's operational role should be filled by mid 2008 by the first GA Typhoon Sqn - and it's well known that they want to give the Harrier force a break by then in A-ghan. The recce role has been the realm of the Tornado GR fleet and UAVs for some time.

On a personal note, I was pleasantly surprised (if a little delayed) by the appearance of 6 Sqn's 12-ship formation yesterday!

Stop complaining. What can we say?

We're defended by a bunch of Tornados, F-4s and Typhoons...

And we've got a way more unfortunate geographical position.

Yep. We're lucky. The great one upstairs (other religious views and atheism are available) gave us the channel to keep France at bay! ;D

To be completely fair, what have the Jags been doing for the past year or three operationally, and what would they do in the next 6 months. The square root of very little indeed, so to be fair, it's probably quite sensible to save money on them now.
