It's been a while.......airborne once again.....

Postby Rifleman » Tue Apr 03, 2007 11:30 pm

I did mention a while back about this day, only back then, I didn't know for sure if it would happen or not, .........today, it came true.......

........taxiing out.......
Image

.......swinging out towards 13.......
Image

......almost on departure heading........
Image

.....crosswind climbout - tide's out !
Image

....downwind for a low pass........
Image

........low and fast down RWY 13..........
Image

Any ideas yet on what it is ?

It sure is a bi-plane... Tiger Moth? Stearman?

Great pictures... did you fly it yourself?

Good for you!! I agree; it's Stearman-ish. But  it's odd I can't see the "jugs" in that last shot... it doesn't have a full cowling, does it?

Hope you got some stick time in that front seat... ;)

I'm going to go with either a beech Staggerwing or a Waco

I'm going to guess Stearman also...and what airport is that?  Reminds me of Washington State.  ;D

Unfortunately, I had to take along my old camera due to fears of it not landing in the same place as myself.....these shots were the best I could come up with during the take-off.....but.........there's more to come which will define the flight a little better.........

Thanks for the kind comments.........and yes Sean, it is has a full cowl, and a super-charger.......

Airfield is CAH3 on Vancouver Island

NEMO! Have you had trouble with your head lately?

Did you not see how the first two shots show that the wings are in STANDARD position for a bipe and not a good position for a staggerwing?

Someone needs their meds stat!

I know it is not a "Tiger, Staggerwing, Waco or Great Lakes" Ken so I shall say it is a Stearman.

Congratulations and what wonderful shots of a great area and airport.   ;)

Hope to be back their soon!   :)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
