A gloomy day at Heathrow

Postby MWISimmer » Fri Mar 23, 2007 1:00 pm

I had a day off work today so I thought I'd take the 45 minute drive to Heathrow and test out the new camera.
Hats off to you guys who photograph aircraft.. it's not as easy as you'd think, as I found out.....
These are the best of a very bad bunch, but as it was my first time with a half decent camera things can only get better..

Etihad Airbus A300(?)

Close - A330

Aside from messing with ISO settings, is there any other way to deal with this?

Move abroad! ;D

Nice shots though considering West London's perma gloom... :)

These big birds are so amazing! Pitty about the weather...

As for the weather, I doubt there is much you can do... nothing beats sunlight when it comes to great photo's. You could experiment with shuttertimes, if you set your camera to shutterpriority ( aperature automatically set by the camera)... but don't put your hopes up to much under these conditions...

What camera are you using anyway?

I wonder if that Ethiad A330 is the one from my signature...

What the hell is a Concorde doing outside a BMI hanger! Did BA just put it there for the display or did BMI buy it...hmmm I wonder. Nice pics tho.

She's only parked there.
She used to be by the now unused runway 05/23 and will be the new centrepiece of the Terminal 5 development. Think the model Concorde on the main roundabout into LHR but on a 1:1 scale..

That doesn't surprise me Craig, after all when T5 is opened the main entry point for BA pax to the airport will be from the M25.. not the M4 as now.
I wonder how much Emirates/Airbus paid for that one..?

I'm not sure what they paid.
I must admit I didn't realise they paid for it as advertising. I just thought it was your standard gate guard agreement. Its certainly an icon and something most people I speak to associate with Heathrow.

Question is, what will they do with the old Concorde model?
Ebay?
1:2 Concorde for sale.. one careful owner..  ;D
Maybe Branson will finally get his wish....

the last I heard, rumor had it being put into Terminal 5, with the full size version going outside as a visitors exhibit. But we'll see.
