A whole mess of shots from KSMQ (pt. 2)

The last set.

I'm not sure why this image was so noisy. Anyway, the Lance returns after a few circuits. The left main tire still hasn't touched yet.

The Mooney taxis out and the pilot gives a wave. The takeoff roll is in my sig. Sun glare will be the death of me.

A '74 Cherokee waits on the ramp. She started up just as I was leaving.Image

Finally, there was an older gentleman who joined me on the bench with his Beagle. I struck up a conversation with him, and it turns out he was navigator in Korea on the A-26. They both were enjoying the nice warm sunshine. :)

That's all for now. Hopefully I can get back there this weekend if the weather is promising. This was my first chance I could really do some spotting here, and it's actually encouraged. I asked the lady behind the desk if it was okay to spot, and she said I could go on the other side of the runway for better light if I wanted to. I would've, but there was a lot of traffic and I didn't want to be involved and accident with a propeller slicing my beautiful face off. :P

You need a UV filter... does wonders, even for my craptacular camera.

An A-26 navigator, eh? You never know who you might meet hanging out at a little airport... ;D

More nice shots!! :)

I'm sure he has some very interesting stories!!  My Wife's Uncle was a navigator also on a A-26 but, During WWII.  He had also flown on B-29's.  I wish I had recorded some of the stories he use to tell me before he past away several years ago.

 Cool Dog!!

Nice shots James. :)

I'm amazed, I've never seen one spotter, or anyone hanging around here watching the traffic. :-? Maybe we're just too boring in Wisconsin, or maybe everyone is too busy with brats and beer, or, maybe the people in Madison don't like us...::) ;)

That looks like a nice little airfield. Accept the offer to go over the other side next time.

Good luck with the job. 8-)

Go figure... I met a guy at FOF last month who seemd sort of an aviation buff, was from Wisconsin, but had never been to Oshkosh.
I don't get it. ;) ;D
