Colani....

Yes, I finally managed to go to the Colani - exhibition at Stuttgart airport.

Colani himself was there too and I got an autograph  ;D.

Hope you like my pics.

Cheers,

Fabian

Sneer all you want, gents, but with advances in composite construction, it's inevitable that aircraft will take on more organic shapes. They're more efficient for moving through fluids (like air), it's pretty obvious.
Almost all previous design shapes are the result of compromise, where things have to be framed and put together a certain way, and weight looms over the whole equation, causing yet more compromises.

I can't say I like all of them, but that second one (the small model) is just beautiful. And that huge flying boat or whatever it is... I kinda like it. ;D

That is like a concept car show right? Except planes instead of cars.  ;D ;D

Some very futuristic designs there. I have to agree with Sean. This is the way things are going.

I made some more pics but I had to stay under the 500k limit. Is there an interest in a "Colani Take 2" with some more models?

I must agree with you all. If you lok at A350 / 787 wings you'll see we aren't far away from this futuristic designs. And as far as I know Boeing and the Europeans are working an a BWB - passenger plane, similar to that Air China study. Still in experimental stage, but that'll be one possible direction.

Greetings,
Fabian
