It would seem rather bulky and awkward to shoot with at moving targets however I am not a camera owner and know nothing about camera''s.

Would that be the largest hand held lense to shoot with?

When the lens costs more than the camera, then, at last, you are a true aviation photographer.  ;D
I see these monsters at every airshow... from my limited experience with my small, inadequate 400mm, I can say that it's not impossible to shoot moving subjects by hand with a super-long lens, if you can use a high shutter speed. But it ain't easy.
Seeing as how a lens like this is also very wide, which means it can also gather a great deal of light ("longer= stronger; wider=brighter"), you can get away with higher shutter speeds in less-than-perfect lighting conditions.

Could be used for wildlife photography, or perhaps in a war zone, where it's far too dangerous to get close.

I wouldnt take that last one along for aircraft spotting... someone might see it as a Stinger launcher

As I've already said quite a few times that cream lens you see on my pic is no longer with me, and I don't use a cream lens anymore and it is nothing special as far as focal length or size goes

Think you'll find that's a prime lens and the quality will be brilliant from it with it being L glass, but I wouldn't use one that large due to the weight and size making it difficult to handle for a full pass. Don't see why it's a laughing matter though, with the distant display line at DX you need something like that...

Indeed. Not only Duxford either as the display line at the big air shows seems to get further away every year.
