From bits to..........THIS !

Postby Rifleman » Tue Aug 01, 2006 12:22 am

It all started last fall for two friends of mine.....friends who I fly R/C with......they had started a project and here is a brief look at how its gone so far..........

First you start with some stuff like this.........
Image

Put some of the larger parts together like this........
Image

Trial fit an ex-F-18 airshow pilot ........
Image

Add an engine, tail-feathers and put some paint on.....
Image

Install some wings and slats.......meet inspection corrections..........

Image

........then wait for the weather, test pilot, and both builders to come for the first phase of flight preps.......

Image

So........anybody know what it is ?

great stuff Ken, what engine did they use? im guessing the prop is composite or wood? i guess for your buds this is the ultimate R/C model...only difference is that they fly it from the inside..cool.

still beats me what it is though :-[

Sorry guys........check the airfoil on the horizontal stab....Chris Heinz uses an inverted, normal flat bottomed airfoil (flat topped airfoil now) on the stabilizer of his CH-701 and CH-801 homebuilts.........it's not a 701....... :-X

Is it a "Zenairanokoffia?"

;D

Not surprising it looks just like a Zenair; that's the sort of plane where the shape and dimensions are dictated solely by function, I think.
There are a few subtle but important differences, though: the wing attachment, for example.
