I had to work in Manhattan today (and tomorrow- I'll be tired, but rich. Well, sort of), and I grabbed the Kodak to see what I might see in my travels.
The lovely morning glories have finally hurled themselves up out of the ground onto the chain-link in front of my building... good morning to you, too, little guys!
Meanwhile, at The Jobsite That May finally Cause Me to Quit the A/V Installs Business For Good (don't ask), things are coming along. For this particular project, we have suddenly become show lighting installers... what a pain it's been (part of long story). That's a big Christie LCD projector there... we mounted it today. The main speakers (all eight of them) are Meyer UPJ-1s, self-powered and capable of 300 watts RMS. Total overkill, but I can't wait to play my CD of US Air Force and Navy Firepower Sound Effects on this system... heehee!!
These Meyer subs are intended to be used with a line-array, but we were directed to somehow rig them from Unistrut on the ceiling. Yours truly made this work, somehow. I just hope the Unistrut stays put (we didn't install it).
A view of the main bar area (it's a comedy club, BTW, or will be in about two weeks)... those are Samsung 46" LCDs. I know... what a waste.
The control room: there will be an sound and lighting operating station in here, along with a camera control/video switching station, and a full-on G5-powered video editing station, complete with a DVD-duping machine. I'll post pics of the setup when it's done... it's going to be crazy. And yes... again, what a waste.
Note the position of the video rack in that corner... the only thing more fun than getting it in under that soffit (which conceals a huge I-beam) is crawling behind it to terminate the field lines. Joy. ::P
The little voice told me to take the camera when we stepped out into the withering heat to go to lunch, and... voila! Snoopy One (at least I think it's #1; are there two?) bucking turbulence as it wallowed crosstown towards the river, very likely on its way to its roost at KTEB before things got much more convective.
Ahhh... Saturday afternoon in the Holland Tunnel line-up... always a good time. ::P Note the green lights, and all the brake lights... sigh... the brutal heat today just seemed to make everyone even stupider- as if that were possible...
Later, back in Newark, I'd just gotten off the skyway, and almost got a good picture of this:
