I know " EXACTLY " how you feel..........I have the same boxes, but mine are empty !  ;)

........get extra BLM-1's from ebay if you can find a local supplier, and for the bright days, maybe a circular polarizer along with a tri-pod for the not-so-bright days........these supplied lenses aren't the fastest around but can be worked with......... 8)

nice one theis.
Definatly get a tri-pod ASAP, they help out big time.
If your wanting to do aviation photography you'll need at least a 300mm lense in the future.

The 'long" zoom on this camera is the equivalent of a 300 Craig.......the Oly format has a 2:1 factor for focal length, compared to the 35mm numbers........

Not trying to teach Grandma to suck eggs. From what I've been told I think it's much the same on most DSLRs compared with conventional 35mm SLRs. This will depend on the type of CMOS sensor. It's 1.6X on my 350D.

http://www.dcresource.com/faq/faq.html
The conversion factor varies, from 1.5X to 2.0X on most D-SLRs.

I'm not guessing on the focal length factor here Doug....the reason for it is that the 24x36mm frame of the focal plane on a 35 mm camera is not the same as the new digital sensors (either CCD or CMOS)....its just the way things were worked out ...so for now, we have to use the factor which we are told about when we buy a camera if we want to know the 35mm equivalent....not a prob though, all we really need to know is whether or not we can get the job done with what we have..........if not, then we need to go and spend gobs of money on a faster, longer lens ..... :-X

What I got with mine is the same as what Theis has.....
E system 35mm equivalent of an 80-300mm F3.5-4.5 zoom - the short one is a 28-90mm F3.5-5.6 again, not the fastest, but can be worked with........ 8)

I went looking for someone who may be able to better elaborate on what I was trying to say .........From Photoxels

Focal Length Multiplier

If you use digital SLRs (dSLRs) that use lenses made for 35mm film cameras, you need to be aware that the focal lengths expressed on the lenses must be multiplied by a factor. That factor, the Focal Length Multiplier, depends on the image sensor size used.

Of course, if the image sensor is full-frame, i.e. it is the same size as 35mm film, then the multiplier is 1, and the focal length of the lens is accurate.

However, only a few dSLRs use full-frame image sensor, with most using a smaller image sensor, usually APS size (or roughly half-frame). That is why you will read that a focal length multiplier of, say, 1.6 needs to be applied to the focal length of the lens to obtain the true focal length.

As you say, it's not so much the equipment & all about what you do with it. It also depends on what you want it for. Not knowing anything about lenses I went for a special offer of a 200mm lens with my 350D which at 1.6X conversion factor works out at 320mm if my arithmetic is correct. I was told this would be roughly the equivalent of the "10x Optical Zoom" on my trusty S5000. This might be the case but I soon discovered it's not quite enough for what I wanted. If I'd known then what I know now I would have gone for the 300mm lens to start with. I should have done more research before jumping in with both feet but as usual it was an impulse decision. ::)

I don't want to spoil this for Theis & I'm sure he will be perfectly happy with his new toy. ;)

Nice Camera!

How much did you spend on it?

I just bought a little digital camera a month in a half or so ago. Of course, I was looking for a nice, small camera that wasn't expensive. I'm not expecting it to last too long
