Safari in N.J.

Postby Willit Run » Fri May 26, 2006 10:30 pm

Last Sunday we went to Six Flags Great Adventure.  My Daughters Dance Company was invited to dance at the Dancefest they have.  We went early so we could enjoy the park for a while.  The first stop was their Safari.  Here are a few shots.  Sorry about quality, they had to be cut down alot!

Enjoy!! :)

Hey! Anything good to eat in there?

LOL!! Last time i was at 6 Flags was in '77 or thereabouts; I'll never forget that safari... my mom's friend took us in her gorgeous 4-door '72 (?)Impala which she literally bought off an old lady who only drove it on Sundays...;D
What happened? glad you asked. First, the baby baboons took quite an interest in the car; one started swinging on the antenna and bent it slightly, while his pals slid down the windshield, leaving some very nasty monkey skidmarks...:P
But the highlight was the black bear cub who burst out of the bushes, threw himself across the hood, casually bent back one of the windshield wiper arms with a flick of his little paw, ripped the rubber blade off the wiper with his teeth, and bounded back into the bushes with his prize!!  :o  :D
The ranger at the gate tried to bend it back and was not successful... LOL!

The company I'm working for now has the service and installs contract for all of the audio in that park; their first job was the Bugs Bunny Nat'l Park thing, and later this summer yours truly will be supervising a very interesting install for the "El Toro" rollercoaster.

I'm hoping for a season pass or something like that... I love roller coasters- the scarier, the better!!

Would you believe the only ride that makes me queasy is the Teacups? Something about sitting and spinning, I think.  :-X  :-/

Great pics.
The one and only time I went to Six Flags was the first or second year they openend back in the 70's.

Yeah, you have to watch those baboons. One hopped on my passenger side mirror (to my gilfriends dismay and my amusement) and rode my car through the safari.
At the end, he just hopped off and aparently did this all day long. ;D
Home airports are KMGJ and KSWF in Orange County, NY
Stop by and say hello. :)

I've only been to the Safari once, and I was a little kid then.. Didn't seem like too much fun. :) I like great adventure though. I'm hoping my first visit this year will be in two or three weeks.

Kingda-Ka, hooahh baby! ;D
