School projects

Postby Jared » Tue Mar 14, 2006 10:14 pm

ok so I thought I'd show everyone a few quick shots of some of the things that I have been creating in the past few weeks of my materials and processes class

For our first lab project my lab group did metal casting. For our purposes we used a sand mold and an aluminum alloy to produce the following aircraft :)

As a side project for the dean we did a few of the Kent state emblems of which this particular mold there were only six made and I have one :)

My very messed up chisel because the lan isntructor never gave us a proper demo of how to do it and we ended up flattening it out way too much...

And finally spinning..we start with a round metal piece of aluminum and end up with the bowl in the picture..quite fun actually :)

Looks like fun Jared.  Do you think you could make me a metal DC-3 for my room? ;)

Excellent... finally, a cold chisel for working around a corner... ;)

Looks like fun. Casting is pretty easy, but your bowl is impressive.  Keep working at the machining; it's a dying art.
