Hazy days of Summer 4

Postby Hagar » Sun Dec 18, 2005 7:20 am

My own little tribute to the legendary Ray Hanna & his Spitfire MH434. Taken at the appropriately named Flying Legends display at Duxford, July 2005. I didn't realise at the time that these would be the last half-decent shots I would get of this familiar sight.

A few more legends taken during the same event.

Amazing as usual Hagar! All those magnificent birds together! But I still like the Spitfire and P-51 the most... The sleakes and best looking fighters... to me, at least...

Thanks Doug, great shots.

As I said in my post, I'm new to airshows, so I can't claim to be familiar with Ray's appearances, however to see the high regard in which he's held makes me pleased to have seen him in MH434 just a couple of times. Thanks for sharing more examples from what looks like an ideal day.

Those Hurricane shots are awesome as well, they really convey the size of the beasts.

Nice to see Roger back again too, where have you been hiding HT?

I've not really been hiding, just not had much time to visit of late. Nice to see someone missed me ;) ;D

What happened to Ray? I thought one of the Hannas died a while back...but did Ray retire?

Perfect shots by the way.

Ray Hanna died earlier this month although I don't know the circumstances. He was 77 years old but looked full of life the last time I saw him. http://www.ofmc.co.uk/news.htm
I think there's a topic in the Real Aviation forum.

His son Mark was fatally injured in a landing accident in the OFMC Buchon some years ago.

Thanks. Glad you like them. ;)
