Best of the rest

Postby Hagar » Mon Oct 03, 2005 8:31 am

Craig asked me to post some more of my shots from the last display at Old Warden this season. As he was there I didn't bother taking as many as usual. Here's the best of the rest in the order in which they were taken.

A couple of my favourite Moths.

I wanted this one to go with my profile of the Southern Martlet. Unfortunately the sun popped behind a cloud just at that precise moment.

I've posted shots of these aircraft before & hope you like 'em & don't find them boring. I could watch these beautifully preserved machines buzzing around all day & never get bored.  We now have to wait until next May before I can take any more at this delightful place. I haven't looked at the static shots I got throughout the day yet. I might post a few of those later if they came out as I intended.

Thanks Mark. They're actually two Avros, the venerable 504K & its daughter the Tutor. The Gladiator didn't venture out of the hangar yesterday or last week for that matter.

Thanks Sean. it's an Avro 19. better known as the Anson. This version was used as civil airliner & military hack. Many ATC cadets had their first flight in one.

I think the Avro Tutor was designed by Roy Chadwick as a replacement for the 504. Not sure about the 504 without looking it up.
