Thanks for the extra example Hawker:) tunnel vision. I have to go with what i know on my cannon, its not huge thing to notice, my lense it would be, because at 300mm it is horribley soft anyway so more would be bad.
I have seen from yours and Dougs, even at a high zoom, its still pretty sharp. All about the lense quality i guess.

The Fuji lens is actually very good and I can't tell from looking at the uploaded shot if it was taken with or without the lens. The major down side is the telescope effect you get when you zoom out. It really is only any good at max zoom as you end up with this if you are not careful.

That's actually a very unusual shot. There seems a fair bit of distortion to me, especially around the canopy. Much like a fisheye lens only in reverse.

You may be right there Doug, I'd not even noticed that before.

Probably the worst thing about this type of camera is the digital viewfinder. It's fine for static shots or landscapes/portraits but not ideal for moving subjects like aircraft

I see what you mean. I had a fondle of a fuji c7000 today and the dig viewfinder will take a little getting used to, however without going the whole DSLR hog I guess you have to put up with it.

I just need to find out when they are in stock now. My birthday present is coming early. A weekend about British WWII fighters culminating in the October Duxford show. Seats on the flightline!

If you do get it make sure to switch the "Preview" option OFF. This is set to ON by default which makes it almost impossible to take a decent shot of a moving subject. You might also like to check out what the other manufacturers have to offer. Rottydaddy got a Kodak recently that looks very similar to my S5000. You can see the results in his recent posts here.

because if i get this job i have to work alternate weekends, starting round that time. If i dont, getting there would be a problem. Have to see.

Then theres the excuse, I would be working Monday to Friday then Saturday aswell, same the next week, but instead of a day off on Saturday my dad would be round to take up that day. So it would be 3 weeks non-stop, and I am a lazy, lazy person I will decide as soon as i hear back. I am still kind of disappointed that I wont be going to Yeovil this year. First time in 4 or 5 years.
