A few ORA pix before work: 1910 Hanriot!

This is only a replica, but it's nearing antique status in its own right, having been built in 1974. The engine, a 50hp 1939 Frankilin, is quite different than the original.
Still, it's a great demonstrator of a very interesting design- the mahogany fuselage is based on a racing skiff, and it uses wing-warping for roll control. The wings also make for a decent shady spot for picnicking...

Here we see the Hanriot being pushed to the flight line, pre-show. Normally they only trot out these pre-WWI birds on saturdays, but  a few of the warbirds were grounded that weekend, so these old-timer types were brought out to make up for it.

Taxiing to the approach end of the runway... this thing is pretty cool-looking, although it's hard to believe it can fly.

The pilot pauses (lets her roll to a stop expertly) to show the crowd how the controls work. One handle controls wing-warping, the other, elevator. I think the rudder is linked to the wing controls, for all the good that does with that teensy rudder.

Up, up, and away... sort of. They only "hop" this one, but she gets more air than the other pre-WWI types.
