I would have thought 50. cal cartidges would be bigger than those ontop of the turret. That and the fact that the ejection port is on the other side of the gun makes me ask are you sure they're 50. cal?

Believe me, they are .50's.  I used to have to clean the damned things out of my gun shroud up there on the front where the main gun meets the turret.  When I get home from the gym tonight I will post a picture of my wingman tank where you can see the casings all over the place.  The .50 cal actually ejects the case out of the bottom, the links go out of the right side of the weapon.  The picture is much clearer in its original size.

I personally think that the coax should be a .50 cal, the loader should have a Mk 19 grenade launcher and the tank commander should have a mini-gun.  As if that tank doesn't already have enough fire power!

I love the shot through the TTS!  That kicks a$$!  And I agree with you, what kind of moron would attack a tank convoy with rifles and machine guns.  ::)  Look at it this way; you did those guys a favor.  They're all going to get to see Allah and have a place secured in Heaven for them....

BTW, I also want to offer my sincere thanks for the jobs you guys did (and are still doing) over there.  If you are ever in Chicago or Titusville, Fla look me up and the first two pitchers are on me...  ;)

When you have the choice between being shot by your own mates (which aint good for your family reputation,IF they were alive after you refused to fight) or by the enemy (leaving the option to try to get not too badly messed up) what would you do.

Most of the soldiers that did fight were republican guard, fedayeen and a bunch of guys that were already under surveillance by the secret service (which was the case for almost anyone in the south)

Actually they were Fedayeen Saddam, foreign fighters.  They weren't defending their homeland, they were dying for money.  Saddam paid them more than he did his own forces.  The Republican Guard put up a good fight for about 20 min, then the tanks rolled in...well you know what happens next!
