Speaking of getting close to planes...

Postby beaky » Sun Jun 19, 2005 2:19 pm

Ozzy's comments about access at airshows prompted me to dig up a few shots I've taken at US airshows and fly-ins... some have been seen here before.

Douglas flight deck; can't remember if it's a C46 or DC3. I've seen that DC3 shown in Jared's shot, but I don't think this is it. Bad quality, I know...

Interior of "Tante Ju", which I believe is the same Ju 52 shown by Jared...

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Yup, but all those modern gauges in that Ju hurt... :-/

You wouldn't notice it as much if they hadn't ripped out the panel completely(look closely at the other old panels pictured; you'll see a lot of new stuff in the old panels- or are they new and just look older?)... possibly this Ju came to them without a good panel, and they just wanted her to fly safely, not be 100% authentic. And instrumentation is one area where I'd happily compromise by choosing reliability and ease of maintenance over aesthetics! ;D
