What a Strange Looking Aircraft!

I have never seen nor heard of this thing!
It is called a Gazpromavia Antonov AN-74TK-1000C.

Is it me or did the designers put the engines on the top of the wing instead of the bottom and a bit too close together   :P  ;D

Dave  - You've led a sheltered life.... Jet efflux over the wings is old technology, which only Antonov has really managed to commercialize... :)

Been around over 20 years - i've got pics of it at Farnborough in the mid 80s...

The other benefit of the enging position is it keeps the muck out of the airflow when operating off ill prepared surfaces...

Ah the Coaler. Dates back to the 70's. Where was that, Dave? I've seen one fly around here..

I've seen that before also. And I could swear I've seen pictures of a similar aircraft that was amphibious. Anyone know what it might be?
