Nord 262

Postby Felix/FFDS » Thu Apr 28, 2005 9:17 pm

Cleaning house, I came across this one, taken in Pittsburgh, either late '70s or early '80s .... N411SA.

Curiously, it appears that N411SA had earlier been assigned to a DH 114 Heron ... !!

Apologies for the non-airliners.net standard photo.  At that time my photographic skills were nil to none.

The interesting thing about this N262, (the "other" 262) is that it has the Astazou turboprops.  A number of US based 262s were reengined with the ubiquitous P&W engines.

In the late '70s/ early '80s I would travel mostly through the Caribbean, but every once in a while through Pittsburgh, where the (then) Westinghouse Electric Corproration, our parent company was located.

Allegheny Airlines (a.k.a. Agony Air) later became US Air.

I think that the Nord 262 is one of the more aesthetically pleasing designs, even if my only experience in them is in Flight Simulator...
