Terrific- I like snaps like these, even if they're not perfect quality. Sometimes it's more about the moment. Might want to clean that slide scanner, though- same two hairs are visible in almost every shot... ;) ;D

[quote]mind you, five lightenings taking off in formation and doing a vertical climb before they had reached the runway end, may well of exceeded current health and saftey noise limits

PPS. I thought they were Lighnings. Not so sure now.

With wings like that I can't see how they'd be anything else. :P

... if I remember correctly there was a belgian airforce display team there ..... what is the aircraft beside the jaguar in the first set of pics? .... its wings look pretty swept back? ...... they do look like lightenings but a bit too fat in front of the wings .... could it be fusalage mounted missiles altering the profile?

I'm sticking with my first guess. They look like Lightnings to me.

I found this list of aircraft at that display. http://www.scramble.nl/mil/show/showreports/leucha74.htm
It might refresh your memory but only seems to include the RAF contingent.

PS. This is the Belgian display team Les Diables Rouge on that list. The aircraft is the Fouga CM.170R Magister.

…. Interesting, I think that the programme is still at my parents, or it could be in my loft? …. I may go up at the weekend, I’m sure there are some up there that were cleared out from my old room that I had collected when a lad ! ….. or I might have to get my mum to have a look for it …. mind you she probably knows just where it is ! ….. is that plane beside the jaguar an alpha jet ?

is that plane beside the jaguar an alpha jet ?

I was thinking along the same lines. Was the Alpha Jet in service in 74?

PS. Difficult to judge the size but it could be a Folland Gnat.
