My new "Back Yard"

Postby loomex » Wed Sep 22, 2004 8:45 am

I have been in my new place for a month and have loved every second of it. I am located exactly .68 miles (1 kilometer) north from the end of runway 14 of the Ithaca-Tompkins Regional Airport (KITH).

At the Syracuse Airport there is an aviation discovery museum.  We drove the 60 miles just for my 2.5 year old daughter who loves planes. This is my daughter in the cockpit of a 727.

I'd have eaten up those cheeks by now!  NIce photos, but that future pilot takes the cake...!! Congrats!

"But Dadeeee," in a shrill, pouting whine, "why can't I take the 727 tonight?  Lizzie down the street has her own 737!"

That's a noisy but very interesting back yard! How did the wife agree? Wonderful daughter too! Reminds me to get a cockpit picture of mine to post! :) ... Not sure I can beat the 727 though - maybe a R-44 .....  8)

Do they always place such high fences around VOR beacons...  The SPY (Spykerboor) VOR stands in the middle of a piece of farmland, with some crappy fence around it

The fence is the airport perimeter fence. The VOR is on the airport itself.

The wife dont mind the planes at all. Thought it better than the train that passed by at 'o dark thirty. This airport "closes" at 10pm. Lights become operated by pilot and control is passed to Elmira-Corning.
