I think he does that so you can see the whole shot if your monitor runs at a lower resolution...good idea ;)

but why do you always have the link under the shot?

I  put it there So people can open it into another window that will resize it to fit the screen If someone is using a smaller screen.  (At school we have 7.5 inch laptops so it's better to view. ;)
