What to expect w/ 2004 Traffic

Postby HeavyMetal » Sun Jul 11, 2004 4:11 pm

Just a sample of what to expect with 2004 Traffic. This is Atlanta KATL on a Friday. Definatly a NO PARKING ZONE. If you want traffic, you can have it. I once waited over an hour just to take-off. Settings are at max

I don't have that kind of patience to wait in line.  I will take an intersection departure and get my IFR flight plan enroute. ;D

Cool shot, but that's a bit too much traffic.  I know that is Deltas hub, but I've been there several times and they never have that many planes at the terminals

Thats the plane I was flying when the pic was taken from about 1 mile up.

Yeah normally you wouldn't see that many planes at a terminal at one time, but I'd have to assume here that they are all stuck...haha, no wing clearance.  They are locked in.

Well, they are not stuck really. Yes, they do look wing locked. In fact in real life they would be. Non of these planes are STATIC though. They ALL fly routes. I have seen them actually taxi right through other planes. I also have all the PAI packages installed.  Settings are at MAX in the photo. I dont normally fly with that traffic setting though, just did it for the photo so you all could see what you can have with this program if you are considering buying it.

What else to expect with that traffic....

.5 FPS

Depends on your system and traffic settings. This addon REQUIRES a minimum 1.5gig processor. If your not running at least a 1.7, you ought to steer clear of this beast.

I too have UT and like it quite a bit.  From what I remember about the product here is that they run fictional schedules and they aren't very efficient which brings that many planes into the picture at the terminals.  Hopefully they will update the schedules like UT has and lower the amount of planes to represent a more life like showing.

I just put this new comp together. I am now getting 35FPS with ALL settings to max, including traffic. I just flew that same pic above with 35FPS and all sliders maxed. CPU temp was just 42C under load. I love this new board and chip. Im still using the old video card too.  My suggestion for increased FPS is a new Atlon3200+

Thanks Ace. Saw your pic too.  I see that you have had to wait as well for take off ect. With traffic at 100%, it can be frustrating., and you have to be so careful not to miss your ATC call, and if you do hear the call, trying to get a word in edgewise with ATC can be a nightmare. I'm just so happy with my new setup, Ive never been able to fly with all setting maxed out, but now its a whole new experience.
