You're welcome Doug. I've been fascinated by cryptography and code breaking since I was a kid. I've got just about every book on Station X and Enigma ever written. And it still amazes me when little gems like this pop up and make my world more interesting and add another piece to the complex jigsaw that is knowledge 8-)

I bet you liked the movie U571 ;). Interesting read Mark. I think my favorite movie to date would be The Sea Wolves..

There is information just being released now to the public about secret bases, units etc. etc. here in Canada.

The question still remains:
Where did that last Avro Arrow fly off to never to be heard from again.

Mike I found U571 to be farcical. It was in fact the Royal Navy that grabbed an Enigma from a sinking German U-boat along with the code books (I saw an interview with the German radio officer who broke the rules and rather than disposing of his code books decided it was more important to save letters and paintings from his girlfriend ;D).
I'm afraid I get rather cross when Hollywood tries to re-write history.
I also think the Poles deserve much greater recognition for their part in the Enigma story, but alas British historians tend to be nationalists and brush their part under the carpet.
On the whole I like the facts, anything else is a waste of life. This is probably why I love channels like Discovery and National Geographic so much 8-)

You must be a very angry man, then. Can't remember ONE, that is ONE, occasion where in a Hollywood made movie, (even those defined historically correct... by Hollywood, that is) things were, one way or another... let's just say reinterpreted... so to make the narrated story a little bit more... let's just say interesting? ...than what reality really made it. ::)

You search for fairly historically correct narration? Try History Channel, not Hollywood. :P
There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

Two words, Pearl Harbour ;D ;D ;D As films go that was a new low-point for Hollywood in relation to a grasp on reality ;D
