Potentially could be. That's one of the bigger dangers of single engine jets, particularly near coastal locations, where the birds tend to be bigger.
That said, if it is a birdstrike, it's relatively (in the circumstances, and no consolation to family and friends) good news, as it's a known risk as opposed to a technical failure of some description.
The question would be, what radio traffic was passed between red 4 and the team from point of failure to the crash.
