Any ideas?

Postby ozzy72 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:11 am

I've just seen an aircraft go overhead that I've never seen before. About the size of a private jet, two pusher turbo props (judging by the sound), normal wing and tail configuration and small cannards on the nose.
Any ideas? I've never seen anything like it!

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Sounds like a Piaggio Avanti, Ozzy.

There's also the Rutan designed Beech Starship but, since there are only six flying, doubt it was one of them.

That'd be the one ApplePie. I was surprised how quiet it was!

The Avanti isn't really loud, but it has a harsh buzzing sound to it that is very distinctive.

The Starship sounds more like your average twin tractor-type (Baron, etc).

Don't know where you are at the moment Mark, but D-IIVA has been doing quite a bit of training at Liverpool this week....
