Today after a weeks delay I got to go up for the 5th time, instead of the usual C172P I got to fly N104CL a DA-20 C1. After a quick preflight It was time to taxi. After my instructor rolling us onto the line I tried to get lined up with the taxi way well imagine my suprise when the rudder pedals barely work (turns out Diamond stars use brakes along with rudder to even make tiny turns let alone 90 degree turns) after a interesting taxi (and the runup area with 5 cirrus Sr-20's) a normal takeoff, my instructor said we would fly to my hometown Castle Rock after that he said to find my high school so we could do some turns around a point, after barely concientrating (looking to much at the view of my town) we reached the school and did turns around it, I still was a bit preoccupied with looking at my town from the air so when i turn back to the altimiter i noticed i dropped about 300 fee tin that turn.. After the turns around the school and my house along with steep turn exercises in some open space we headed back to Centennial for some touch and goes.
It was quiet busy today as far as the circuit goes we entered for runway 17R first landing went fine, after circling around and getting onto final about 50 feet above the ground I heard this: Four Charlie Lima Go Around. After gunning the throttle and pulling off to the right I scan the runway I was trying to figure out why ATC told us to go around considering that the aircraft was 3/4 of the way down the runway but by the time we where at the end of the runway he had just got off. Then the wind shifted and we landed on runway 35R (same approach but with a highway by it) but this time after we touched down ATC was chatting with a Cessna P210 apparently his gear wouldnt come down so after finishing our circuits and landing we had to wait along with 3 other aircraft at a taxiway while he went around. Finally after getting out of the aircraft we hear Sirens in the distance (we saw the P210 circling to burn fuel) not sure what happened we left before he landed might see something on the news)
All in all a great flight!
