As for how expensive a loss this is, well . . . that's just the nature of the beast, I'm afraid.
I'd say it's actually a very cheap loss. Let's face it, they aren't going to buy another one and they don't really need the ones they already have. So it's just one less airframe sitting on the flight line in need of maintenance.
. Sucks though that we lost one of our coolest most advanced planes. But the pilots are ok, witch is a good thing, but now they don't have any plane to fly when they get back to base.
