Do pilots need perfect vision?

Nope - as I said in my previous post, as long as your eyesight is good on joining the service, it doesn't matter if you subsequently need spectacles (unless you virtually go blind).

I'm only 15 yet about 40cm away form the screen I can't read anything.

I'm only 16 yet about 30cm from the screen I can't even read the huge "Simviation Forums" letters... ... And I'm seriously considering being a pilot.

Can I get a 1st class medial (FAA) with -7 myopia, shortsightness or however you call it? :-/

I have read that for Europe -6 is the max. permitted...
