Correct. I fly a small bird which likes to ruin photographers photos of VC10s...

Tutor and Firefly? :)

Grob Tutor and the Slingsby Firefly.

My point was how you'd managed to be a lucky chap and do both (without being a pie eating ME pilot!) :) Some people get all the luck...

Lol, yes, for my sins I fly Typhoon F2s in the RAF. 17(R) Sqn.

Fantastic!

Any tips for a wannabe RAF pilot trying to join next year?  :)

Yes, don't walk on the carpet at Cranwell!!  (you'll understand what I mean when you get there!!)

Seriously though, there's not much I can really tell you that you probably don't already know, you'll have aptitude tests, fitness tests, leadership exercises, and all manner of tests and trials and you just need to be sharp and believe that you are the best in your group. Be positive without being cocky.

Aside from that, know your current affairs, geography and start to learn the ancient art of aircrew banter!!

Good luck with it and if you have any specific questions then please feel free to PM me.

The joys of not finishing the EFT syllabus on the UAS I suppose! ;D

I never could work out why you end up standing on the carpet about 5 days before graduation, when the fuss is about walking onto it for the first time through the doors on grad day...

A flight in a Typhoon is quite difficult to arrange but I have taken my dad up in a hawk. He enjoyed that (once he'd emptied the contents of his stomach into the NATO issue barf bag!)

And the Grob Viking was actually the first aircraft that I went solo on, although I didn't count that as it doesn't have an engine!!   ;)

621 VGS at RAF Hullavington I believe it was, when I was an air cadet!! (and my CO got into trouble for sending me on the gliding course at 15 when you need to be 16! They only found out after I went solo!!)
