Seems a little odd to me that the only pics I've ever seen of this phenomenon are of C-130's. Does this happen with other prop planes as well, or is the C-130 particularly (in)famous for them? ;)

Some aircraft seem more prone to it than others. It might have something to do with the shape of the prop blades. I've noticed the same phenomenon on photos of the Yak 50/52 family I've taken. These have large two-bladed "paddle blade" props & I didn't notice it with other types  taking off around the same time. I have another photo of one on the main rotor blade of a helicopter landing in the rain at Shoreham earlier this year.

I've also seen it on warbirds like the Bf 109 at La Fert

Try and find some photos taken on carriers in the pacific in WWII - aircraft such as the Corsair and Hellcat in particular...

I took some pictures of old warbirds that have them...lemme go take a look through my 'archives' ;)
