It has taken them since the end of the cold war to save up for the fuel. ;D

Wonder if they will be flying the old North Sea routes too. It would give the Guys in Leuchers something to do.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

The only problem being that the F3s from leuchars are currently at Leeming due to runway resurfacing/extensions

This may sound . . . oh-so-wrong, but I really preferred our old adversaries over our new adversaries.  Oh, sure, there was always the threat of world-ending global annihilation via nuclear holocaust.  But, generally speaking, after Kennedy, that was mostly rhetoric versus an immediate tactical or strategic choice.

The worst thing about military deployment for Western troops during the Cold War with the old Soviet Union was having to learn how to navigate German roads.  IEDs and such were not a day-to-day threat.  Over-extended combat duty was not happening.  Being put in a tactically and strategically impossible situation and then demonized in the media on a daily basis was not a threat.

So, yeah, the old Cold War versus the new War on Terror?  Yeah, I'll take swapping smiles as we chase each other around in the skies over random explosions any day.  Let's just hope this time that Sov . . . er, the Russians (ahem) can play the game without abusing their people.

Random thought came to mind . . . how are they going to pay for this sort of fun?  I knew they were working on developing oil production, but . . .  :-/

Pondering and rambling,
~Darrin

EDIT:

Oops!  For a second there, I lost my mind and forgot about the no politics rule!  Very sorry about that!  Honestly, I wasn't trying to be political, just darkly humorous.  My apologies!
