A givaway...

Postby C » Sat Mar 31, 2007 12:52 pm

Often we see in the aviation press, continual stories of how individuals and groups struggle to finance the operation/restoration/display of historic aircraft. Hence, it makes it even more remarkable that this year the Royal Navy Historic Flight will have two Hawker Sea Furies for the first time since the 1980s, and what's more, one will be a two seater!

Huzzah to the nice (anonymous) chap who has donated it to them. :)

That's fantastic news. Seems we might also see a Stringbag this season. ;)

To me it's the sort of donation that deserves a peerage. Tony!

Lets hope it has more luck than the last two MoD operated twin seat Sea Furies.

Certainly wouldn't mind seeing the two fly together!

Which Stringbag has finished being overhauled?

Indeed. I'm hoping that the Stringbag at least will be based at Shoreham for Airbourne & the RAFA display. I doubt they would chance the Sea Fury but you never know. I'm also wondering what they have up their sleeves for the Military Pageant at OW. Last year we got this very rare formation. 8-)

Nice to know we will see the Fury and Hawk at Cosford, looks like I will have to keep my fingers crossed for OW to see the Stingbag though  :(

Shame about the Sea Vixen (if only RNHF could afford her!)...
