Sightings for February 6

Postby rootbeer » Wed Feb 07, 2007 12:18 am

I have a few from today and a few from a few days ago.

I guess it was Sunday. Nellis was unusually quiet, maybe all the jetjocks were watching the Stupor Bowl. I saw a B-52 take out of there. That's a pretty big airplane. About half an hour later I saw a C-5 claw it's way into the sky. That's a REALLY big airplane!! It appeared to be moving so slowly from my vantage point, which was maybe 1-1/2 miles away. It climbed out, then took a shallow turn to the northeast. Soon, it was gone...

Today was much more intense. The '15s and '16s were screamin' as usual. I saw several flights of them rip into the wild blue and head northwest, as if on their way to KINS. I saw a slew of A-10s doing their thing, too. Later, I heard a loud noise and looked way up to see four T-Birds in a tight diamond formation. They hit the smoke for a few seconds, then the plane on the right pulled back a bit and did a single axis roll. I guess he just felt like a nut right then. Sometimes you do; sometimes you don't, you know...

There were three F-22s that tore out of there fast and close on each other's heels, again heading toward where KINS would be.

I was just about home around 1600. I was out near Fallon NAS and saw two F-18s playing grabtushy to the east of US95. There is a bombing range out there. I have seen them practicing in the past. No practice today, though. At least none that I saw...

That is all...

I always enjoy these entries, but you need to bring a camera next time. ;)

I think I am going to break bad in a few days and buy a digital camera. I saw an 8Mpx one at Waltermart for 200 bucks. It had a 5X zoom on it. I don't know if it had any digital zoom capability. The problem with them is that they have so much going on inside, it would take a klutz like me a year to figure it all out...
