My fav. Mid sized, bomber would have to be a B-26, and long rage is B-17. Curious why the votes are hidden lol. I can already suspect the winner, considering the high percent of Brit's on the forums lol.

Well, the question was simple enough:

what is your favourite bomber
the lancaster
the b-17

Read the question carefully before answering. You get null points for straying from it. :P

But nothing in that question implies that you have to choose from the two, all I am saying is that there are thousands of WW2 bombers to choose from so there is no point in having a poll.

Now if there had been a colon, semi-colon or a rephrasing of the question to say "From these two, which WW2 bomber is your favourite; then I wouldnt have made that last point.

In answer to the original question, my Favourite bomber of WW2 is the Junkers Ju87 Stuka, but out of those two I would go for the lancaster :)

In case you hadn't noticed it's a poll with only two options. Lancaster or B-17. :P :)

The fact that there are only two options to choose from implies to me that you have to choose from the two.

Arguably, the most influential bomber of the war was the DH Mosquito, whose design concepts led to the Canberra, and to the design of many postwar jet bombers...

That point is definately arguable!

What about the Superfortress?  And for that matter, Arado Ar 234 and
Junkers Ju 287 too?

Was the Mosquito capable of mixing it up with the Luftwaffe's best?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A10533025
Fighter/Bomber

The fighter/bomber variation of the Mosquito proved to be the most popular. Building on all the improvements in previous types, the fighter/bomber had increased power and weapons (four 20mm cannons mounted in the nose) and armour. Its role was mainly ground support, but the Mosquito could also be used as an intruder or heavy bomber escort and, due to its speed, an interceptor. The Mosquito also helped in defending London against the V1 Doodlebug terror attacks and took on the new Luftwaffe jet aircraft like the Messerschmitt Me-262 over Germany during the latter months of the war.

The only comparible aircraft to the Mosquito is the Ju88. Now it's debatable as to which of these were the most versatile, but I have my doubts as to the use of a Ju88 as a day fighter.

Or its ability to "turn and run", or actually just to "run away", the Mossie's primary mean of defence...
