He picked a good spot; kept his cool, and flew the airplane. Ruffled Chicken Little's downy feathers slightly, but all in all a happy ending. ;D

Yikes. That little strip actually looks like a grass runway too. :P

It's tight for sure, but just about the only option around there, except maybe the beach .
I was thinking that the beach would be my first choice (more elbow room), but sand can be a bit dangerous to land on, even if you go for the wet sand near the surf that is better-packed.
He was very smart, in any case, to not try to make it across the harbor... even if the engine held out until Linden, that'd be a scary little trip that would take years off one's life.  :o

I just re-read the article... they of course had to mention that the ballpark is "popular with community leagues", but made no mention of the fact that in November, places like that are usually deserted, especially on weekday mornings. ::)
More Brooklynites were hurt in their own homes that day than by airplanes; don't even need to look at the ER admission records to know that. But you'll never see a news item about that, unless it involves getting stuck in a toilet or someone burning their privates.

"Squawk! The sky is falling! the sky is falling!!"

I'd like to see Chicken Little turning on a spit, slowly roasting... ;D

Totally agree!
It was on page 2 of the NY Post yesterday with a half page picture of 6 cops standing around the plane and the owner on his cell phone.
Jeez, give me a brake!
COMING SOON!
