Finally!

Postby MarcoAviator » Sat Mar 11, 2006 10:41 pm

As we all know (or not) the weather here in the NE has sucked grandiously.

Hence I didn't fly for 5 weeks.

Today I did fly ... and then some!!

I flew for 3 hours. Went to Millville, then Trenton, then Andover.

Got radar flight following (just for shiz and giggles ... I generally don't get it because the frequencies are insane-busy and the controllers are cranky but today everybody was calm and laid back and I took advantage of it).

Not much to say about the flight other than I am surprised at how well I can still fly in spite of having been grounded for 5 weeks.

Andover has a "shorty" runway of 2000 feet. I nailed it and stopped in less than 1000 ... yep. I can still land short.

What?

You don't believe me?

YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME???

YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME!??!?!?!

I GOT PROOF THIS TIME!! YEAH!! CLICK HERE!

I took the movie by lodging my camera between the dashboard and the windshield. Worked like a charm! ;D ;D ;D

I can't believe how nice the movies came out.

Took a movie of my landing back at Central Jersey too ... here

And for some more shiz and giggles, here's some pics!

Good to hear you're back in the air Marco-I, on the other hand, haven't flown in 4 and a half months ::) (insult to injury-CFI hired by Continental)

I'll make sure to watch the movie once I finish my LAS-JFK flight ;) (wmv doesnt work when FS is running for some reason)

I dunno about that clip at Andover... it ends before you stopped rolling... ;) I made a nice short landing there once, too, on 03... but no video, alas.
That camera placement worked out well.

I've had to cancel my last two flights... almost 7 weeks now...

:'(

Have to work today, but looking outside, it may be for the best that I cancelled. :P

I liked the video, I've thought about doing something like that before, but I could never figure out a way to do it, short of taking someone with me, but I guess I could do that. ;D ;)

Looks like a nice little airport there....;)

I also thought about taking someone along for the ride but then I realize that my windshield is kinda steep and the camera can lodge nice and tight right at the bottom of the plexiglass.

It's gotta be the right day to do it. I wouldn't mess with a camera in a busy pattern and lots of windshear ... this was a distraction I could do without in "busy" times.

But yesterday there was nobody around and the air was smooth as glass (other than one or two light bumps).
