And here I tought that I made a goof out of myself since the responses was dominated by celestial navigation and dead reckoning etc. I started to think "hmm...maybe I'm waaay out of the ballpark on this one" ;D
I guess I just tend to lump all of that stuff together: to me, proper navigation is barebones: after all, when all the electronic gadgets fail, one still has compass, chart and clock(although clocks can fail, too). that's why I immediately thought of Lindbergh...
