I'm thinking of getting the PMDG 747-400 for FS9 because I can't find any textures for the default 747...

I cannot believe you just asked that question.

Thats like saying;

Whats better?
1) To have an all expenses paid trip to the Bahamas and free food/drink and massages from beautiful girls all day long.
2) Be dismembered in the most painful way possible.

Default doesn't even come close to the systems or external model of PMDG. If your asking this question seriously you need to see a doctor.

I'd choose option 2...I like pain :P ;D :D

All jokes aside...It really is a rather silly question ::) ::)

I think the purpose of the survey is to find out if people are willing to pay around

Yep, for a lot of people POSKY's 747 or the iFly 747 available from Simviation has quite enough complexity. It has a FMC I believe but it can be ignored if you want.

Me, I will get the PDMG 747 when the boxed version comes out because it is widely regarded as the greatest aircraft add-on ever created for MSFS and every now and then I want to fly an aircraft by-the-book (but only once a month or so).

BTQ - The PMDG guys appreciated this "poll" ....  :)

On a serious note, though, it is comparing apples to oranges.  FOr the ultra-flightsim fanatic, the PMDG model is that much more accurate.  FOr the "general"  user, that wants the fun of flying a 747, the default is more than enough ...  different strokes for different folks....

Default, Default!!!!!! -runs-

Lol Ahem,
Like Felix said, if you just want to fly for the simplicity of flying a 747, the default is excellent, and if you want to learn how a real 747 might fly like, the PMDG is a good one.  As an alternative to the PMDG model, the iFly 747-400 appears to be almost on par with the PMDG - in fact, I think the ifly actually models more systems of the 744, though there are bugs with it such as the nose pitching slightly below the horizon when cruising, and is not exactly forgiving if you have force feedback enabled on your joystick, among other bugs and glitches.  Of course, the PMDG has a better looking VC, and the quality control you might expect from a lot of payware.
Cheers,
RB
