The MD-11 is an excellent aircraft, but I probably won't buy it, as I have already got a freeware one.

The real thing? Very good. My experiance with it was always nice. KLM wasnt that good due to poor leg room but the aircraft was very nice.
Of course you all should know anyone who bad mouths it will find themselves the victim of a Marmalade strike of the stickiest variety:) ;)

I actually love the thing.
When it arrived, it was state-of-the-art, and it still competes fairly good  :)

And I will buy it  ;D

Like the real bird.

Definetly not spending money on it. Why do that when I could fly in reality?

Damn good freeware ones anyways.

PMDG sets the bar on their premium products. You can get freeware addons but so far everything PMDG has released has been well worth the price of admission, expecially their 737NG and 800-900 upgrade.

Once I get a new job, I will add their 744 and MD-11 to my arsenal

Just found this thread in a search for MD11 stuff, nearly a year on and the PMDG version is still not ready, sigh!

You're right, there are some cracking freeware models out there but what i'm waiting for is the fully functioning panel and systems. The MD11 was very advanced when it came out and it'll make a nice change from the generic Airbus or Boeing panels.

To all you MD-11 fans, once upon a time, I worked for a contractor to McDonald Douglas (before Boeing bought them out) at the Long Beach Airport.  I had free access to the whole facility since I supported their communication equipment.  I've been in the facilities where the MD-11 was built, MD-81 was built and the C17 was built.  It was an awesome experience, I loved going to work there, every day!

I would like to see somebody do a standard DC-10-30 as well.  I was always more fond of analogue aircraft anyway.  The glass I have I hand fly or hand operate the auto-pilot at least and never take near full advantage of the automation.    I want to see  fully realized 3 position flight deck DC-8's as well.  Boeing, airbus, blah blah blah.  What's wrong with Douglas???  Why are airbus and boeing the payware darlings?  What's wrong with Lockheed or Convair even?  Why not a fully implemented Tri-star, or a Convair 880? Or a CV-240, 340, or 580?  There are so many cool and overlooked planes to model, they haven't even scratched the surface.
